RECRUITMENT

  • Attend Orientation Session

  • Complete Resource Parent Application

  • Participate in an At-Home Consultation

  • Recruitment Transfers Application to Child Welfare Training Academy (CWTA)

TRAINING

  • Register for Pre-Service Training

  • Complete 30hrs of Training Classes

LICENSING

  • Family Licensing Worker Conducts Clinical Assessment

  • Complete/Pass all Clearances (FBI, Police & Child Protection)

  • Lead Inspection Performed

  • Fire Inspection Performed

  • Obtain a Certificate of Clean Hands

  • Reference Checks

  • Submission and Completion of all Paperwork

  • Home Study Finalized

Requirements

Thinking about becoming a resource parent in Washington DC?

☑️ Be at least 21 years old
☑️ Live in the District of Columbia

☑️ Provide character references

☑️ Be able to support your household financially

☑️ Be in good physical and mental health and free of communicable diseases

☑️ Have no history of child abuse/neglect or criminal activity

☑️ Have enough space in your house or apartment for children to sleep separately from adults and from opposite-sex children over age 5

☑️ Have the time and ability to provide good care, guidance, and support to children or teens
